Samsung C&T, Safety Relay Campaign to Prevent Falls at Construction Sites

Participation in Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Fall Accident Eradication Measures

Samsung C&T Corporation's Construction Division announced on the 16th that it conducted a relay campaign to prevent fall accidents at construction sites and promote a safety culture at the Banpo 3rd District reconstruction site in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

This campaign is part of the preventive measures promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to eradicate fall accidents, which account for more than half of the fatal accidents occurring at construction sites over the past three years. The relay campaign will continue from the 14th of this month until the 23rd of next month, focusing on major construction companies.

Attending the event, Byeongcheol Ahn, Vice President and Chief Safety and Health Officer (CSO) of Samsung C&T, personally inspected the site and encouraged employees to take active interest and voluntary participation in safety.

Samsung C&T, led by CEO Secheol Oh and the CSO, is conducting site inspections and has visited construction sites more than 30 times in the first quarter of this year alone.

At all 30 domestic sites, approximately 300 accident prevention signs and 200 banners have been installed in workspaces with a high risk of fall accidents. This raises awareness of safety while allowing risks to be recognized at a glance.

Before work begins, short-form safety video training based on accident cases is conducted, and workers are provided with fall accident prevention airbag safety vests to minimize impact in case of a fall.

Through Samsung C&T's self-developed 'S-TBM (ToolBox Meeting, Safety Inspection Meeting)' mobile app, correct preventive measures against accident risk factors are shared before work, and improvements in hazardous situations can be immediately confirmed.

In addition, Samsung C&T is making every effort for comprehensive accident prevention, including △standardization of warning signs △work plan drawings to eradicate unauthorized work △inspection of construction equipment using drones.
