The inaugural director is former National Assembly member Chae E-bae. A certified public accountant, Director Chae has engaged in numerous legislative activities related to tax justice, fair economy, and conflict of interest prevention in the 20th National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee, Judiciary Committee, and Budget and Accounts Committee. He opposed the Tada ban law, emphasizing the importance of consumer choice and innovation.
Director Chae said, "I joined because I empathize with SamzzumSam’s contribution to enhancing the convenience of tax filing, restoring taxpayer rights, and improving tax understanding," adding, "I will strive to ensure that the Research Lab serves as a bridge to the external policy environment and leads to substantial institutional improvements."
On the 17th, SamzzumSam Research Lab will host a policy discussion on "Improvement Measures for Deduction Systems for Rare and Intractable Diseases and Severe Illnesses under the Income Tax Act," organized by Democratic Party lawmakers Kim Nam-hee and Oh Ki-hyung at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building. The discussion will address practical limitations and inconsistencies between laws regarding the application of disability income deductions that remain even after the amendment of the Enforcement Decree of the Income Tax Act in February, and will explore directions for improvement.
