Twice-Weekly Busan-Ulaanbaatar Flights Resume from the 22nd
Busan-Yanji Route Increases from 3 to 6 Weekly Flights Starting the 27th
Air Busan (CEO Jung Byungsub) will resume operations on the Busan-Ulaanbaatar route and increase flights on the Yanji route.
Air Busan announced on the 16th that it will resume the Busan-Ulaanbaatar route, which was suspended during the last winter season, with twice-weekly flights (Tuesdays and Fridays) starting from the 22nd of this month. The Busan-Yanji route will also increase from three to six flights per week starting from the 27th of this month.
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia offers a variety of experiences such as horseback trekking and camel riding on vast grasslands, staying in traditional ger houses, and spectacular views of the Milky Way in the night sky.
Yanji, China is the most accessible city for tours to Baekdusan Mountain, and the abundance of Korean-language signs throughout the city provides Korean tourists with a sense of familiarity and novelty.
Both routes were the first to be launched from Gimhae Airport among domestic airlines by Air Busan, and have continued to operate actively with stable performance since their launch. The Ulaanbaatar route recorded an average load factor in the low 80% range during last summer season, while the Yanji route recorded a high average load factor in the high 80% range in the first quarter of this year.
In addition, one out of every four local passengers on these routes is a local national, indicating steady use by locals as well as tourists. The Ulaanbaatar route is popular among Mongolian students and workers residing in Korea, while the Yanji route is frequently used by ethnic Koreans in China.
An Air Busan representative said, "With the expansion of these operations, we hope to improve transportation convenience for our passengers and provide a wider range of options for route usage."
