Han Yong-ho, Former Fair Trade Commission Director, Appointed as Chair of Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee

Three-Year Term... Appointed by Fair Trade Commission Chairman
"Aiming for Substantial Recovery of Large-Scale Consumer Damages"

The Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 16th that it has appointed Han Yong-ho, former Director of the Corporate Group Surveillance Bureau at the Fair Trade Commission, as the Chairman of the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee.

The term of the Chairman of the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee is three years, with the Consumer Agency Director recommending and the Fair Trade Commission Chairman appointing. The new chairman, Han, entered public service through the 44th Administrative Examination and has served as Director of the Manufacturing Industry Surveillance Division, International Cartel Division, Market Surveillance General Division, Service Industry Surveillance Division, and Corporate Group Surveillance Bureau at the Fair Trade Commission.


During his tenure at the Fair Trade Commission, he handled cases such as shipping cartel collusion, Kakao Mobility's call favoritism and call blocking incidents. He also played a leading role in sanctioning deceptive consumer practices, including false advertising of 5G speeds by the three major mobile carriers and search ranking manipulation by Coupang.


Chairman Han stated, "I will strive to facilitate amicable resolution of disputes based on mutual concession and compromise between parties, respond swiftly and effectively to collective dispute cases, and work towards the substantial recovery of large-scale consumer damages."
