From Civil Complaints to Investigation Reports
AI Assists Using Large Language Models such as GPT-4o
Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency has become the first among police organizations nationwide to establish a 'Police GPT Website' utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI), opening a new chapter in smart policing administration.
Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency has pioneered a new era of smart policing administration by establishing the nation’s first ‘Police GPT Website’ utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) among police organizations nationwide.
On the 15th, Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had signed a business agreement for the construction of the 'Police GPT Website' in the conference room on the 7th floor of its headquarters, together with KT Daegu-Gyeongbuk Corporate Customer Headquarters and Timely Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, KT will support the stable operation of Daegu Police's communication network, while Timely will provide technical support in advanced technology fields such as generative AI platforms, cloud, and big data.
The pilot 'Police GPT Website' will be utilized for automating administrative tasks, responding to civil complaints, drafting investigation reports, and interpreting laws, based on five large language models (LLMs) including GPT-4o, Gemini, and Perplexity AI.
About 100 staff members selected from the city police agency and local police stations will participate in the pilot operation.
Kim Kanghyun, Chief Superintendent of the Future Policing Implementation TF Team at Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, explained, "By automating repetitive administrative tasks and enabling rapid information retrieval, we will reduce the workload of frontline officers and create an environment where they can focus on core policing activities."
Kim Daehwan, CEO of Timely, stated in a special lecture for staff, "This collaboration is the first case demonstrating the practical potential of generative AI in the field of public safety," adding, "We will continue to provide technical support to ensure the stable operation of the website."
Lee Seunghyup, Commissioner of Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, emphasized, "This will serve as a catalyst to accelerate the establishment of the generative AI-based Police GPT," and added, "Based on the pilot results, we will expand the scope of AI utilization and continue to build a smart policing system."
