The Gwangju Dong-gu Council (Chairperson Moon Sunhwa) announced on the 15th that it held a ceremony to commemorate its 34th anniversary.


The ceremony, held in the council's main chamber, was attended by Chairperson Moon Sunhwa, former and current council members, Dong-gu District Mayor Lim Taek, various distinguished guests, and local residents. The event proceeded with a council promotional video, a progress report, and a commemorative speech by Chairperson Moon.


The Dong-gu Council was first established on April 15, 1991, with 25 members. Up to the current 9th council, over the past 34 years, it has held a total of 316 regular and special sessions, during which it has deliberated and passed 1,820 ordinances and general agenda items, actively engaging in a wide range of legislative activities to provide oversight and policy proposals for district governance.


Chairperson Moon Sunhwa stated, "All the achievements of the Dong-gu Council were made possible thanks to the foundation laid by our predecessors and residents over the past 34 years," adding, "We will continue to improve the lives of our residents in various areas, including resolving livelihood issues, revitalizing the local economy, and pursuing sustainable policies."
