Second and Fourth Fridays of Each Month from May to October
Hongseong County, Chungnam Province, announced on the 15th that it will operate a comprehensive municipal waste treatment facility tour program for local elementary, middle, and high schools as well as village communities from May to October.
The program, conducted in cooperation with the Hongseong County Environmental Education Center, consists of environmental education by professional instructors and a tour of the municipal waste treatment facility, providing participants with the opportunity to directly see and learn about the importance of resource circulation.
The tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month, lasting two hours each session, and will not be held during the peak summer months of July and August.
Applications are open to groups of approximately 40 students from elementary, middle, and high schools or village communities. After registration, the schedule will be coordinated for each group. Last year, kindergarteners were also able to participate, but for safety reasons, they are excluded from this year's program.
Yu Cheolsik, head of the Hongseong County Environment Division, said, "Fifty percent of recyclables brought to the recycling center end up being discarded because they are difficult to recycle," adding, "We hope that this tour will help establish a proper culture of waste separation and recycling."
