A Total of 14 Billion KRW Invested
Sequential Progress on Hwanggak Small Stream and Others
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province is promoting a 'Small Stream Maintenance Project' to strengthen the functions of local small streams and prevent natural disasters.
According to the city on the 15th, a total budget of 14 billion KRW will be invested in this maintenance project, which will be carried out sequentially targeting Hwanggak Small Stream, Oedu Small Stream, and Sinjeong Small Stream.
The ongoing Hwanggak Small Stream project has a total budget of 2 billion KRW and will maintain an approximately 0.7 km section from 120 to 296, Sinyong-ri, Geumma-myeon. With the goal of completion next month, embankments are being reinforced and bridges are being reconstructed, with about 90% of the work already finished.
The Oedu Small Stream project has a total budget of 5.1 billion KRW and will maintain an approximately 1 km section from 1145 to 1175, Dudong-ri, Seongdang-myeon. The detailed design service is currently underway, and administrative procedures are expected to be completed this month so that construction can begin before the rainy season.
The Sinjeong Small Stream maintenance project, with a total budget of 6.9 billion KRW, began its detailed design service last month and aims to start construction next year. The project will target an approximately 1.1 km section from 617-7 to 657, Seongnam-ri, Nangsang-myeon.
The city expects that once the maintenance projects are completed, risk factors such as flooding will be prevented in advance, and residents will be able to enjoy a more pleasant living environment.
A city official stated, "Small stream maintenance is not just about improving facilities, but an important project to enhance the safety and quality of life for local residents," and added, "We will create a river space that everyone can use with peace of mind by ensuring smooth project implementation."
