Condemnation of Ignoring the Constitutional Court's Ruling
and Exercising the Veto on the Special Investigation Bill
The Gwangju Emergency Action for Liquidation of Rebellion and Social Reform strongly criticized Prime Minister Han Ducksoo, who is scheduled to visit Gwangju on the 15th, and called for his immediate impeachment and criminal prosecution.
In an emergency statement released on this day, Gwangju Emergency Action asserted, "A person who has trampled on constitutional order through unconstitutional and illegal acts and ruined the economy has no right to come to Gwangju, the heart of democracy. The place Han Ducksoo should be is not Gwangju, but prison."
The organization defined Han's refusal to appoint three Constitutional Court justices recommended by the National Assembly and his nomination of a close associate of former President Yoon Sukyeol as a justice as unconstitutional acts, stating, "An investigation into abuse of power must be carried out strictly." They also emphasized that the Constitutional Court has already ruled these actions unconstitutional.
They further pointed out that Han, as the head of the cabinet under the Yoon Sukyeol administration, bears significant responsibility for the collapse of people's livelihoods and the incompetence of state affairs, either by condoning or leading these failures. In particular, they defined his exercise of veto power against the special investigation bill on rebellion and Kim Keonhee as "an act that obstructed the investigation into rebellion."
Gwangju Emergency Action urged, "The National Assembly must immediately begin impeachment proceedings against Han Ducksoo, and investigative agencies must thoroughly investigate the allegations of abuse of power."
