The Democratic Party of Korea has finalized the main primary schedule to select its candidate for the 21st presidential election, which will be held on June 3. The regional tour primaries will take place over two weeks, from the 16th to the 27th, in four rounds.

Online and mobile voting will be conducted according to the schedule of each region. The first round for the Chungcheong region will be held from the 16th to the 19th, the second round for the Yeongnam region from the 17th to the 20th, the third round for the Honam region from the 23rd to the 26th, and the fourth round for the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, and Jeju from the 24th to the 27th.


The Honam regional tour primary will take place on the 26th at the Kim Daejung Convention Center multipurpose hall in Gwangju. On the final days?the 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th?joint speeches for each region will be held, and the voting results will be announced.


This primary will be conducted using a "citizen 50 : party member 50" ratio, allowing for broad public participation. The general public electoral college can participate in voting for two days, from the 21st to the 27th.

The final candidate will be announced on the 27th, the last day of the tour primaries, by combining the results of the regional primaries and the public electoral college vote.


Candidate registration for the primary will be conducted only on the 15th, and the deposit amounts to a total of 400 million won?100 million won for preliminary candidates and 300 million won for main primary candidates.
