"Adding Lights to Handcarts Used by Elderly Scrap Collectors"
Muan Police Station in South Jeolla Province (Chief Jeong Seongil) announced on the 15th that on the 14th, they implemented customized traffic safety measures by attaching fluorescent reflective vests, LED flashing lights, and solar-powered automatic flashing devices (commonly called 'Solar Bangbang-i') to handcarts and mobility-assist chairs used by elderly pedestrians who are constantly exposed to the risk of traffic accidents during nighttime hours.

This initiative aimed to enhance the visibility of elderly individuals who pull handcarts on roads with a high risk of traffic accidents during early morning or nighttime hours when visibility is poor, thereby preventing accidents in advance and ensuring their safety. The police identified the active hours of these elderly breadwinners and provided safety equipment directly.
Chief Jeong Seongil stated, "If you can't see it well, it's hard to prevent accidents," and added, "Even a small but reliable piece of safety equipment can serve as a large protective barrier to safeguard the precious lives of our seniors."
He further remarked, "We will continue to expand proactive, field-oriented measures to ensure traffic safety for vulnerable groups."
