Development of Specialized Model in Collaboration with Upstage
Launching AI Services in Thailand with Clients
Plans to Expand Global AX Business Area
KT announced on the 15th that it has completed the Thai language large language model (LLM) platform construction project carried out in collaboration with Jasmine Technology Solutions (JTS), an IT specialized company of Thailand's Jasmine Group.
KT signed a contract with JTS in March last year for the Thai language LLM platform development project and has been executing the project for one year.
This project is a one-stop initiative that builds the LLM operation management environment 'LLM Ops,' the artificial intelligence (AI) service infrastructure 'GPU Farm,' and even develops a 'Thai language dedicated LLM model.' It is explained that KT is the first domestic company to establish comprehensive AI infrastructure overseas, covering both the development and operation environments for generative AI services.
LLM Ops is an environment that manages all processes such as training, deployment, and operation of various LLM models. KT customized this environment for clients to efficiently and stably operate the complex generative AI operation environment.
Additionally, KT established a GPU Farm locally in Thailand through its cloud subsidiary KT Cloud for managing graphics processing unit (GPU) resources. JTS plans to supply GPU subscription services (GPUaaS) to Thai companies and institutions.
Based on its own model development experience, KT jointly developed a Thai language dedicated LLM with the domestic company Upstage. This model supports Thai, English, Korean, and other languages. It has been trained on vast unique Thai data, enabling it to accurately respond to questions related to Thai politics, history, and culture. Previously, KT invested in Upstage in 2023, and through this project, the two companies will jointly expand their global AX business.
KT will continue to collaborate as JTS's specialized technology partner in ▲ AI platform advancement ▲ GPU infrastructure expansion and maintenance ▲ discovery of new AI-based services. Furthermore, both companies plan to gradually introduce AI services targeting the Thai AI transformation (AX) market.
KT plans to expand its AX business area not only in the Southeast Asian market but also to other global markets such as the Middle East and Europe. Lee Jin-hyung, Executive Director of AI Business Strategy at KT's Strategy and Business Consulting Division, stated, "The development and commercialization of the Thai language specialized LLM platform is a result that once again proves KT's AI technology capabilities and global business competence. Including the experience and know-how gained from this project, KT plans to diversify its AI and cloud service product lineup based on strategic partnerships with Microsoft and Palantir."
