The 'Ansan International Street Theater Festival' is scheduled to be held for three days from the 3rd to the 5th of next month around Ansan Culture Plaza under the theme 'Art met on the street, connecting the world.' This year, based on the experience accumulated over the past 20 years, the city and the Ansan Cultural Foundation will directly plan and lead the operation of the festival.
At the briefing session, an organic cooperation system among administrative support departments, affiliated organizations, and related agencies responsible for traffic control and bus route changes during the festival period, venue safety management and cleaning, and enforcement guidance on street vendors, illegal parking, and sanitation was reviewed.
Mayor Lee Min-geun said, "We will maintain meticulous preparations and a close cooperation system until the end so that both citizens and visitors can safely and enjoyably participate during the festival period."
Meanwhile, this year's festival will feature 136 performances and participatory programs with major street art performance groups participating around Ansan Culture Plaza. The opening performance will include a choir performance by students from the Practical Music Department of Seoul Institute of the Arts, a fire performance by Yehwa Flaming Fire, and b-boying and street dance by Gambler Crew & Rolling Hands. The closing performance on the 5th will present works emphasizing artistry and popularity, such as a magic show by illusionist Lee Eun-gyeol and a fantastic fireworks display.
During the event, 67 amateur teams categorized as youth, university students, multicultural, and general citizens will also present 'citizen version' performances. The city plans to prepare a separate space for children and youth so that the festival can be enjoyed by all generations.
