Gwangju Social Service Institute (President Kim Daesam) announced on the 14th that it held a 'Life Sharing Blood Donation Event' on the 11th to spread the value of respecting life in the local community and contribute to stabilizing the blood supply.
This event was held with the participation of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross, organizations housed in the government office building, affiliated facilities, and local citizens. It was planned as part of the Salgu Volunteer Group's year-round volunteer activities for 2025.
The Gwangju Social Service Institute organized this event to address the ongoing shortage of blood supply and to continue its founding purpose of realizing citizen-centered public social services. Participants underwent a preliminary health check before donating blood, and on-site counseling and promotional activities were also conducted to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation, establish a proper blood donation culture, and spread the value of respecting life.
An employee who participated in the blood donation said, "Blood donation is the most practical and immediate way to share life," and added, "This campaign is significant in that public institution employees are directly contributing to saving citizens' lives. I am grateful to the Gwangju Social Service Institute for providing the opportunity to participate together with the local community."
Meanwhile, the Salgu Volunteer Group, a volunteer organization comprised of employees of the Gwangju Social Service Institute, has been actively engaging in community contribution activities since last month and is carrying out various volunteer activities over the next 10 months to realize social services that citizens can truly experience. This year, the Salgu Volunteer Group plans to implement a variety of social contribution programs focusing on life respect and suicide prevention activities, value sharing, and warmth-spreading campaigns.
President Kim Daesam emphasized, "This blood donation event was not just about donating blood, but also an opportunity to reflect on the preciousness of life together with the local community," and added, "We will continue sustainable social contribution activities that go beyond one-time events, with our employees planning and participating themselves."
