A man in his 60s died in a safety accident while constructing temporary housing for wildfire victims in Yeongyang County, North Gyeongsang Province.
According to the North Gyeongsang Fire Department and others on the 14th, at around 12:55 p.m. on the 12th, Mr. A was involved in an accident at the construction site for temporary housing for wildfire victims in Seokbo-myeon, Yeongyang County, when he was crushed by the steel boom (delivery pipe) of a pump car.
It was found that Mr. A was working at the temporary housing construction site when part of the ground beneath the pump car's support, installed for concrete pouring, subsided, causing the pump car boom to collapse and crush him.
Mr. A was rescued by colleagues at the scene and transported to the hospital by fire authorities, but ultimately passed away.
The construction site in question had not yet signed a construction contract with Yeongyang County.
An official from Yeongyang County stated, "There was no construction contract and no safety manager. Since the work was rushed to provide housing for the wildfire victims, the procedures were insufficient."
The police are investigating whether there was negligence in safety management and the exact circumstances of the accident.
