Main Stage Relocated to Onyang Oncheon Station Plaza
Collaboration Event with Chef Choi Hyunseok Also Planned
On the 14th, Oh Sehyun, Mayor of Asan, stated, "The 64th Seongung Yi Sunshin Festival, as well as future festivals, will be operated with a focus on citizens and revitalizing the local economy."
On this day, Mayor Oh held his first briefing in the city hall situation room, just ten days after taking office, and explained the upcoming Yi Sunshin Festival, which will be held from the 25th to the 27th.
The festival, which was previously held at the Yi Sunshin Sports Complex, will have its main stage relocated to the Onyang Oncheon Station area this year to boost the local economy.
At the Onyang Oncheon Market Participation Plaza, there will be reenactments of a Joseon-era marketplace and a military examination site, as well as various hands-on programs such as the national pull-up competition "Find the Young Yi Sunshin," and the Joseon Naval Departure Ceremony.
Additionally, there will be events such as the Nanjung Ilgi Golden Bell Quiz, the creative musical "Seongung," a Black Eagles air show, and the "ㅇㅅㅅ Game," a modern reinterpretation of traditional games.
In particular, on the 26th, a food collaboration event will be held featuring the famous chef Choi Hyunseok, who is an ambassador for "Visit Chungnam Year." Signature menus to be introduced on-site include three types of local Makgeolli, the so-called "Choi Hyunseok Highball" made by mixing Ronnefeldt tea (called "T-Mak"), mala cream tteokbokki, and squid ink pancake with special fish sauce.
To address parking shortages due to the venue relocation, a temporary parking lot with 200 spaces will be operated on the west side of Onyang Oncheon Station, and shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes from five areas: Sinjeongho, Yi Sunshin Sports Complex, Tangjeong, Cheonan Asan Station, and Sinchang.
Mayor Oh said, "This festival is designed so that citizens can participate directly and experience the city of Asan more deeply," adding, "We will continue to create festivals centered around our citizens."
