Hong Joon-pyo Meets People Power Party Leadership
"I Will Strive for Victory in the Presidential Election"
Former Mayor Hong Joon-pyo's camp announced on the 14th that they have recruited Lee Young-soo, the central chairman of the New Future Preparation Meeting (Saemijun).
Saemijun is an external forum with a large participation of key figures from the People Power Party. It has exerted significant influence on party sentiment during the last presidential election, as well as the People Power Party primaries and party conventions. In particular, Lee Young-soo is described by the camp as a kingmaker within the ruling party.

Former Mayor Hong will officially declare his presidential candidacy at 2 p.m. at the 'Mudaehong' office in the Daehwa Building, Yeouido, Seoul. Following this, the camp plans to announce Lee Young-soo’s specific position and role in the first round of organizational appointments.
On the same morning, he visited Kwon Young-se, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, and Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party. Meeting with Chairman Kwon, former Mayor Hong said, "I hope this presidential election will be an opportunity for the country to stabilize and rise as one of the world’s top seven powers," adding, "Over the next 50 days, I will work hard to ensure our party wins the presidential election that will determine the fate of the Republic of Korea."
