Introducing Popular Hot Places: 'BE LOCAL' Campaign
Available When App Language is Set to a Foreign Language
Naver Map Service Offered in English, Chinese, and Japanese
NAVER announced on the 14th that it will launch the 'BE LOCAL' campaign through 'Naver Map' to introduce popular hot places in Korea to foreign tourists.
This campaign will be conducted for one month from the 14th of this month to the 13th of next month, targeting users who have set the language of the Naver Map app to a foreign language. The campaign period coincides with Japan's Golden Week (April 29 to May 6), a peak time for visits by foreign tourists.
The BE LOCAL campaign introduces popular restaurants, cafes, fashion, and complex cultural spaces favored by Korean MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) users in popular areas such as Myeongdong, Seongsu, Itaewon, and Hannam-dong. By clicking the 'BE LOCAL' tab on Naver Map, users can explore the most saved food, sights, and activities by Korean users in their 20s and 30s recently.
Promotions in collaboration with fashion, cosmetics, and lifestyle brands preferred by foreign tourists visiting Korea will also be held. Discount coupons usable at brand stores such as Olive Young, Innisfree, Musinsa, and SK Telecom will be provided through the Naver Map app. Starting in May, users who download the Naver Map app and visit partner stores can also receive limited edition BE LOCAL campaign goods.
Since launching the multilingual version in 2018, Naver Map has strengthened features for foreign users. Utilizing Papago, Naver's AI-based translation service, it provides translations from Korean text reviews to place filters for exploring stores matching preferences in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
In December last year, Naver opened the 'Naver Map Usage Guide' page, offering multilingual guidance from exploring places worth visiting to public transportation navigation. Naver plans to improve the Naver Pay service in the first half of this year so that foreign users can use Naver Reservation, ordering, and payment functions.
Lee Sang-cheol, head of Naver Place Business Division, said, "Naver Map is a platform that best understands the latest trends in Korea based on the country's largest place information and vivid visitor reviews," adding, "Through the multilingual version of Naver Map, we will support foreign users to travel conveniently in Korea and experience Korean culture and trends more richly."
