Signing of MOU for Joint Cooperation in Overseas Urban Railway Projects, Including Ukraine Reconstruction, on April 11
Combining Capabilities in Urban Railway Operation and Infrastructure Construction to Strengthen Competitiveness in the Global Railway Market
Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Rail Network Authority (Chairman Lee Seonghae) on April 11 to strengthen cooperation in overseas railway projects.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will combine their capabilities in railway operation and infrastructure construction to expand their entry into overseas markets, particularly jointly participating in global projects such as the reconstruction of urban railways in Ukraine.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ joint entry into overseas urban railway projects ▲ sharing of technology and information related to overseas railway projects ▲ cooperation in the reconstruction of urban railways in Ukraine ▲ continuous collaboration on other overseas projects.
Seoul Metro has strengthened its competitiveness in the global market based on 50 years of accumulated experience in urban railway operation and maintenance, while the Korea Rail Network Authority has played a key role in railway infrastructure development and maintenance.
Through this agreement, the two organizations are expected to contribute to enhancing the global status of Korean railways by expanding overseas railway projects based on mutually complementary cooperation.
This agreement is valid for three years from April 11, 2025, and may be extended by mutual consent of both organizations.
Lee Seonghae, Chairman of the Korea Rail Network Authority, said, "We will closely cooperate with Seoul Metro so that Korea's technology and experience in overseas railway projects can shine even more," adding, "We hope this agreement will be an important turning point for both organizations in pioneering overseas markets."
Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, said, "This agreement will be an important opportunity to promote the excellence of Korean railway projects not only domestically but also overseas and to expand international influence," adding, "We will do our best to create tangible results through cooperation between the two organizations."
