Korea Gas Corporation is addressing disaster response through digital innovation such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, while also working to eliminate energy welfare blind spots.
On the 14th, Gas Corporation announced that it is promoting various innovative projects in line with the government's Digital Platform Government vision, achieving public safety, enhanced energy benefits, and win-win development with small and medium-sized enterprises.
Gas Corporation's 'Smart Disaster Safety Management' service integrates disaster information from multiple agencies including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Korea Meteorological Administration, and the Korea Forest Service. A Gas Corporation official said, "This platform has completely changed the previous reliance on paper reports and manual work," adding, "Especially with AI voice technology deployed on-site, it secures precious golden time during disasters, contributing to protecting public safety."
Gas Corporation is also preparing warm digital solutions for neighbors struggling with city gas bill burdens during cold winters. It developed the 'City Gas Bill Reduction One-Stop Service' for households eligible for bill reductions but unable to benefit due to information accessibility issues. This service connects complex administrative networks into one and automatically identifies non-beneficiaries to assist with applications on their behalf.
Work methods are also changing. With the introduction of electronic form services, digital signatures are replacing paper and pen, and paper documents are gradually disappearing from Gas Corporation employees' desks.
Gas Corporation is also finding ways to grow together with small and medium-sized enterprises. Through various events such as the Daegu Gyeongbuk Startup Festival, public data utilization contests, and big data analysis competitions, it discovers hidden digital talents in the region. It supports the promotion of promising startups and helps their continuous growth through substantial follow-up programs like the Win-Win Growth Partner Forum.
Digital transformation is also sweeping through Gas Corporation’s natural gas production and supply sites. It is building a 'digital brain' that collects and analyzes vast amounts of data generated throughout the entire process of importing liquefied natural gas (LNG), unloading it at production bases, and supplying vaporized natural gas. Once the 'Data-Based Facility Operation Environment Creation Project,' currently in its initial stage, is completed, Gas Corporation expects a smart natural gas supply era where AI suggests optimal facility operation methods.
A Gas Corporation official said, "The Digital Platform Government is not just a change in administrative systems but an innovation that improves the quality of life for the public," adding, "We will continuously strive toward three goals: public safety and convenience, win-win cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthening digital competitiveness."
