The Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association held an extraordinary general meeting and announced on the 14th that Lee Sang-gyun, President and CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, has been appointed as the 21st chairman of the association. The term of the new chairman will be from the 15th of this month until April 14, 2027.

Since joining HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in 1983, he has served as Executive Director in charge of external affairs at the Shipbuilding Business Division, Head of Production at HD Hyundai Samho, and President and CEO. He was appointed as President and CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2021 and has been serving in this position to date.
The Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association has eight shipbuilding companies as members, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries, Hanwha Ocean, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, HJ Heavy Industries, K Shipbuilding, and Daesun Shipbuilding.
The new chairman stated, "To ensure the sustainable growth and future competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry, we will proactively respond to global environmental and safety regulations, focus our capabilities on supporting the development of eco-friendly and smart ship technologies, and nurturing future talents, and do our best to create a shipbuilding industry ecosystem based on cooperation and coexistence."
