This volunteer activity was carried out together with Asiana Airlines employees and their families, who became part of the same family last year. A total of 60 employees and family members from both companies helped with farm work during the busy spring farming season by planting chili pepper seedlings, covering fields with plastic sheets, and cleaning up the village environment.
Professional medical staff from the Aviation Medical Center also participated in the volunteer work. They conducted simple medical examinations such as checking pulse and blood pressure for elderly villagers who usually have difficulty visiting hospitals due to mobility issues, and prescribed necessary medications. They also donated essential medicines such as painkillers, digestive aids, and cold medicine to the village.
A Korean Air official said, "It was a meaningful time to strengthen ties with Asiana Airlines employees and reflect on the significance of coexistence in the village where we have maintained a sisterhood partnership for over 20 years. We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility through various volunteer activities directly involving employees from both companies."
Meanwhile, Korean Air has maintained a one-company-one-village sisterhood partnership with Myeongdong-ri village since 2004 and conducts social contribution activities twice a year to assist with farm labor. Myeongdong-ri has been known as a 'pesticide-free village' since 1999, where the entire village cultivates and grows various crops such as glutinous rice, chili peppers, chives, and corn using eco-friendly farming methods.
