In Hypothetical One-on-One Matchups, Han Duck-soo Trails Lee by the Smallest Margin
In a poll on potential presidential candidates, former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung ranked first. Han Duck-soo, the acting president and prime minister whose candidacy has recently surged, was listed as a ruling party presidential candidate following former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo.
According to a poll released on the 14th by polling firm Realmeter (commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted from the 9th to 11th with 1,506 voters aged 18 and over via 100% wireless automated response, with a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and a response rate of 4.7%), in a preference survey where multiple presidential candidates from both ruling and opposition parties were presented, former leader Lee received 48.8%, securing first place. Compared to the previous survey, his support rate dropped by 0.7 percentage points.
Following him, former Minister Kim received 10.9% (down 5.4 percentage points), and Acting President Han was at 8.6%. Han was newly included in this poll amid speculation about his presidential run. Realmeter stated, "With Han included, there was a significant defection from Kim’s support base." Former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon received 6.2% (down 0.5 points), and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo got 5.2% (down 1.9 points).
