Full Deployment of Education Companion Managers
at 18 Schools
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 14th that it will significantly expand the 'Education Companion Manager' support project, which was selected as an excellent case in the 'Seoul City Companion Index Performance Evaluation Education and Culture' category this year, compared to last year.
This expansion decision was made due to the high satisfaction with the pilot project operated last year and the increasing demand from schools requesting the continuation of the project.
The 'Education Companion Manager' project is designed to support the adaptation to school life and educational guidance for vulnerable and at-risk students, such as those with school maladjustment, learning support needs, and special education requirements, by assigning assistant personnel to schools. Last year, it was selected as a Seoul City 'Companion with the Vulnerable' public project and was piloted in nine elementary schools, receiving positive evaluations for effectively guaranteeing educational rights.
Starting this year, Seongbuk-gu will independently allocate educational expense subsidies to actively expand the project. After conducting a demand survey, a total of 18 schools, including 17 elementary schools and one special school within the district, expressed their desire to participate, and Education Companion Managers will be assigned to all these schools.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, "Above all, the administration will do its best to discover and actively support projects that are most needed in school sites to ensure students' right to learn and protect educational activities. We will continue to cooperate with the local community so that children can grow up safely and happily within schools."
Meanwhile, Seongbuk-gu is also promoting various specialized educational support policies unique to the district, such as supporting facility improvements for safe school environments, providing healthy eco-friendly meals, and implementing the 'Donggyo Dongrak' project linked with the local community.
