A Story of a Battle Over the Fate of the "National Soju"
Distributor Showbox announced on the 14th that the movie 'Soju War' will be released on June 3. It is a story about Jongrok, the financial director of a soju company during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, and Inbeom, an employee of a global investment firm solely pursuing profit, clashing over the fate of the 'national soju.' The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Lee Je-hoon, Son Hyun-joo, and Choi Young-jun.
Showbox did not mention the director's name when announcing the release. Director Choi Yoon-jin, who made her directorial debut with this film, has been embroiled in allegations of stealing two screenplays. The production company The Lamp sided with the writers instead of the director, and the director claimed it was the tyranny of a major production company, which delayed the release until now.
