LG Electronics and GM Selected as 'Suppliers of the Year'... Recognized for Innovation in Automotive Solutions

Supplier Performance Evaluated and Awarded Across All Areas
Received 'On-Time Supply Award' for Three Consecutive Years
Accelerating Advancement of Technologies Such as Telematics

LG Electronics has been selected as the 'Supplier of the Year' by global automaker GM.

LG Electronics was recently named the 'Best Creativity Team' at GM's '33rd Supplier of the Year Awards' held in Arizona, USA. LG Electronics explained that this recognition was the result of its automotive component solutions that redefined in-vehicle entertainment and connectivity.

GM evaluates supplier performance annually across purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics, awarding suppliers who excel in all areas. With this award, LG Electronics has been named 'Supplier of the Year' a total of seven times from 2014 to this year. In 2016, 2022, and 2023, it also received the 'Overdrive Award' in the global purchasing and supply chain operations category.

Regarding customer management and after-sales service (A/S) parts supply, LG Electronics has received the 'On-Time Supply (OTS) Award' for three consecutive years since 2023. LG Electronics achieved a 99% on-time supply rate for service parts supplied to GM North America and received the Gold Award last March. Last year, it earned the Platinum Award with a 100% on-time supply rate for parts supplied to GM Korea and Brazil.

LG Electronics is accelerating the advancement of automotive component technologies such as in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), vehicle communication modules (telematics), and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in line with the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDV). Through this, it has established itself as a leading company in the telematics sector, a core component of SDVs. According to LG Electronics’ own estimates based on data released by market research firm Strategy Analytics, LG Electronics held a 24.4% market share in telematics last year, ranking first globally.

Leading the digital transformation of the automotive industry with its differentiated solution for SDV transition, 'LG Alphaware,' LG Alphaware consists of ▲vehicle entertainment playware ▲meta-ware based on augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies ▲visionware through AI algorithms and camera sensors for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Additionally, LG Electronics is accelerating innovation in mobility spaces by applying the vehicle webOS content platform (ACP) to electric vehicles for the first time. A differentiating factor is enabling premium content such as LG Channels to be enjoyed inside the vehicle.

Eun Seok-hyun, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ Vehicle Solution (VS) Business Division, said, "This award result proves our relentless efforts toward developing innovative automotive solutions and stable supply. We will strengthen partnerships with customers through integrated mobility solutions encompassing both hardware and software."
