Guro-gu, Recruiting French Youth Homestay Families

Applications Accepted from the 21st to the 28th for Families with Children from Middle to High School
Homestay and Friendship Activities from July 18 to 20: 2 Nights, 3 Days of Cultural Exchange and Introduction to Korean History and Culture

Guro-gu (Mayor Jang In-hong) announced that it will recruit families to participate in a homestay program hosting youth from Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, from the 21st to the 28th of this month.

This exchange is designed to build friendships between youths of both countries and allow them to directly experience each other's cultures. The French youths will experience daily life and culture in Korea for 2 nights and 3 days, from July 18 to July 20.

The applicants must be 12 families with children from the 3rd year of middle school to high school students.

Selected families will receive a support fund of 100,000 KRW, and it is expected that through various exchanges including culture, language, dietary habits, and lifestyles, they will gain valuable opportunities to broaden their global perspectives.

Additionally, on July 20, when the homestay experience ends, a harmony event will be held where the homestay families and French youths can gather and interact together.

Families wishing to participate in the homestay program can submit the application form and personal information consent form via email.

For more details, please check the Guro-gu Office website or contact the Regional Economy Division of the district office.

The district plans to continue overseas youth exchange programs to strengthen youths' global competencies and provide various overseas experience opportunities.

Mayor Jang In-hong of Guro-gu said, "I hope this exchange will be a valuable experience for youths of both countries to learn about each other's cultures and build friendships," adding, "We look forward to your interest and participation."

Since 2008, Guro-gu and Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, have visited each other's cities biennially under a youth exchange agreement. This year, French youths will visit Guro-gu and, during their 6 nights and 7 days stay, will participate not only in homestay and social activities but also experience various historical and cultural events.
