Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '12th Changwon Special Mayor's Kendo Tournament' at the Changwon Munseong University Gymnasium on the 13th.

This tournament was organized to widely promote the excellence of Kendo, improve the skills of club members, and foster unity. It was hosted by the Changwon Sports Council and organized by the Changwon Kendo Association.


About 450 participants, including Kendo club athletes and officials from 15 teams in Gyeongnam, competed in individual and team tournament formats for elementary, middle, and high school divisions, women's division, and general division. Certificates and medals were awarded to the winners, runners-up, and joint third-place finishers in each category.


Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said at the opening ceremony, "I welcome all athletes who have come from across Gyeongnam for today's competition, and I hope you will fully demonstrate the skills you have honed and achieve the best results," adding, "I urge you to grow into outstanding Kendo practitioners through consistent physical training and continuous self-discipline."


Changwon Special City plans to do its best to improve facilities and distribute programs so that not only Kendo practitioners but also citizens can enjoy a variety of sports in better environments.
