Laying the Foundation for Participation Through Regular Meetings by Subcommittees
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '7th Changwon Youth Network Appointment Ceremony and Regular Meeting' at the City Hall's 3rd conference room.
The Changwon Youth Network is a representative youth participation organization in Changwon, where local young people gather to directly identify issues, propose, and monitor youth policies in order to solve the concerns and problems faced by youth.
The appointment ceremony held on the 11th was organized to encourage local youth participation in city administration and policy proposals. Forty young people selected through an open recruitment process were appointed as the 7th group of committee members. The event proceeded in the following order: awarding of appointment letters to the 7th committee members, presentation of achievements and introduction of projects by the Changwon Youth Vision Center, election of executives, and regular meetings by subcommittees.
For the next two years, the committee members will contribute to community change through policy proposals and implementation in four areas, including employment, housing, and culture. They will also carry out various activities to improve the quality of life for young people and promote the development of city administration.
This year, in particular, under the slogan 'Changwon, a City Where Young People Want to Stay,' the operation of subcommittees will be strengthened so that policies that make Changwon more attractive to young people can be directly planned and proposed.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said in his welcoming address, "We will actively support the incorporation of youth voices throughout city administration," and added, "I hope the Youth Network will establish itself as a driving force for Changwon's future."
