The International Intellectual Property Training Institute of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), announced on the 11th that it will conduct the "2025 Korea-WIPO Patent Examination Practical Training Course" online from the 14th to the 18th.
The training will involve intellectual property experts from 27 countries, including patent examiners, patent policy officials, and professionals working in R&D patent-related fields.
The participating countries are developing nations with close economic cooperation ties with Korea, such as India, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates, or those with significant national growth potential.
The training focuses on enhancing participants' intellectual property examination capabilities by transferring Korea's patent examination methodologies conducted domestically, as well as Korea's patent examination standards and practical skills related to advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
KIPO plans to share its "K-Patent Examination" know-how to strengthen intellectual property protection cooperation between Korea and the participating countries and to enhance the global market competitiveness of domestic export companies.
The training will cover ▲ an introduction to the current status and policies of the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board ▲ patent examination procedures and methodologies ▲ AI invention examination standards ▲ technology transfer and commercialization support policies.
Heo Jae-woo, Director of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute, said, "We expect this training to serve as a catalyst to strengthen the patent examination expertise of participating countries, thereby preventing overseas patent disputes for Korean companies and enhancing their market competitiveness." He added, "The Training Institute will continue to enhance the quality of international intellectual property education to promote the excellence of K-Patent Examination worldwide."
