Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) announced on the 13th that it held a launching ceremony on the 11th attended by over 100 resident volunteer activists called 'Ya-haengjigi,' who will help create the historical and cultural night festival '2025 Jeongdong Ya-haeng.'

The district is broadly recruiting Jung-gu residents, those living in the Jung-gu area, and citizens from other regions interested in Jeongdong Ya-haeng to encourage voluntary participation in creating a festival together with residents and the local community. As a result, far more applications than expected were received, and 100 Ya-haengjigi were finally selected.

At the launching ceremony, an orientation was held, including the awarding of appointment certificates, guidance on the Jeongdong Ya-haeng event, and explanations of the roles of the Ya-haengjigi. The Ya-haengjigi, composed of families, colleagues, and single-person households aged from elementary school students to under 60 years old, pledged to share the charm and romance of the modern culture that Jeongdong holds with more citizens.

Starting with the launching ceremony, they will prepare Jeongdong Ya-haeng together through activities such as plogging around the Jeongdong area and proposing ideas and content related to the festival. Additionally, on the 23rd and 24th of next month, when Jeongdong Ya-haeng is held, they will be active as part of '2025 Jeongdong Ya-haeng' by stamping visitors' passports and providing guidance at facilities and event venues throughout the festival site.

Jeongdong Ya-haeng is Korea's first cultural heritage night festival, started by Jung-gu in 2015. Initiated to promote Jeongdong's historicity and identity, as well as to enhance the enjoyment of historical culture and activate the tourism industry, Jeongdong Ya-haeng has recorded a cumulative audience of 1.13 million, establishing itself as a cultural festival representing Seoul beyond Jung-gu.

District Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, "Thank you for participating as Ya-haengjigi in the Jeongdong Ya-haeng festival, which is created together by Jung-gu residents and the local community," and added, "I hope that the spring nights of Jeongdong will shine even brighter through the participation of volunteer activists during the festival preparation process and the festival period."
