Yangcheon-gu Supports Injury Insurance for Growing Disabled Youth... Coverage Up to 10 Million Won

The "Support for Enrollment in Group Accident Insurance for Adolescents with Disabilities" is a project first implemented nationwide by Yangcheon-gu since 2021 to encourage social participation and ensure a safe daily life for growing adolescents with disabilities who are very active. Through this, a total of 1,558 adolescents with disabilities have received support for insurance enrollment so far.

The eligible recipients are 787 registered persons with disabilities aged 9 to under 24 (born between May 4, 2000, and May 3, 2016) residing in Yangcheon-gu, and the insurance period is one year from May 3 this year to May 3, 2026.

The coverage includes up to 10 million KRW in case of death due to injury, from a minimum of 300,000 KRW to a maximum of 10 million KRW for permanent disability caused by injury, and 20,000 KRW per day (up to 180 days) for hospitalization due to injury. Especially from this year, the diagnosis fee for fractures has been increased to 200,000 KRW, and consolation payments of 200,000 KRW each for fracture surgery and burns have been newly established.

The district covers the full insurance premium, and coverage for injuries during the enrollment period overlaps with other insurances, but eligibility is lost if the insured moves to another region. Those who wish to enroll or legal guardians of adolescents under 14 years old can apply by visiting the local community service center by April 18.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, "We have expanded the coverage compared to last year so that adolescents with disabilities can participate freely in social activities without restrictions," and added, "We will continue to actively discover and promote customized policies so that young people can grow up healthily."
