Choi Sang-mok Holds Video Meeting with Australian Treasurer to Discuss Cooperation Measures Including Tariffs Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok is having a video conference with Jim Chalmers, Australian Minister of Finance, on the afternoon of the 11th at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Economy and Finance, held a video conference with Jim Chalmers, Australian Treasurer, at the Government Seoul Office on the afternoon of the 11th, during which they discussed the recent global economic situation and cooperation measures between the two countries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced.


Deputy Prime Minister Choi and Treasurer Chalmers agreed that the uncertainty in the global trade environment could have direct and indirect negative impacts on the economies of both countries, which are highly dependent on trade, and shared their respective responses.


They emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries to stabilize supply chains for energy, critical minerals, and other resources amid growing global economic uncertainty, and agreed that joint efforts for free and fair trade should also be pursued through multilateral forums such as the Group of Twenty (G20).


In particular, South Korea and Australia have been long-standing close partners, and they agreed to join forces to overcome the current difficulties going forward.
