Chinese King says "US should not ignore existing order... must stop acting arbitrarily"

Warning Against U.S. Tariff Bomb on China
"As a Major Power, China Will Prevent Coercion for the Sake of International Order"

Wang Yi, Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office of the Chinese Communist Party, warned the United States, which has imposed a 'tariff bomb' on China, to "not act arbitrarily."

According to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 12th, Director Wang met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, in Beijing the previous day and said, "Recently, the United States has been brandishing the threat of tariffs everywhere, prioritizing its own interests over the common interests of all countries, openly disregarding the multilateral trade system and the existing order."

Director Wang emphasized, "The international community cannot just stand by and watch this. The United States must not act arbitrarily, and the wheels of history must not turn backward."

He added, "China is a fair and just major power and a responsible member of the international community. Our intervention to stop coercion is not only to protect our legitimate rights and interests but also to safeguard the common interests of the international community and prevent humanity from returning to a jungle of survival of the fittest."

Earlier, on the 10th (local time), the United States announced that it had recalculated the cumulative tariff rate on China to 145%. This figure combines the 20% tariff imposed over China's fentanyl response with a 125% retaliatory tariff.

In response, Chinese authorities decided to raise the retaliatory tariff rate against the U.S. from 84% to 125% starting on the 12th. In addition, China has implemented non-tariff measures such as advising against travel and study in the U.S. and reducing imports of American films.
