Trump: "There May Be Some Exceptions, but 10% Reciprocal Tariff by Country Is the Floor"

Regarding China, "I believe a positive outcome will come"
On U.S. Treasury bonds, "The issue was resolved quickly"

U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 11th (local time) that the basic rate of reciprocal tariffs, set at 10%, is the minimum level for country-specific reciprocal tariffs, in relation to the 90-day suspension and negotiations of tariffs with countries other than China, Reuters reported.

President Trump told the media aboard the plane en route to Florida, "There may be some exceptions for clear reasons, but I want to say that 10% or a level very close to it is the minimum."

He told reporters that he is in talks with many countries regarding tariff negotiations and said, "We are in a very good position."

President Trump announced plans on the 4th to impose reciprocal tariffs exceeding 10%, and a basic tariff of 10% has been in effect since the 5th. For so-called 'worst violators,' tariffs exceeding 10% were imposed starting on the 9th, but immediately after implementation, the tariffs were suspended for 90 days for countries other than China.

Regarding China, which is responding with retaliatory tariffs, President Trump mentioned that he and President Xi Jinping always get along well and said, "I believe a positive outcome will come."

On U.S. Treasury bonds, he said, "There was a brief moment of concern, but I quickly resolved the issue," adding, "The bond market is doing well." According to the White House press pool, when asked whether the bond market issue was the reason behind the decision to suspend country-specific reciprocal tariffs for 90 days for countries other than China, he suggested that it was not.

He also said about the U.S. dollar, "If people understand what we are doing, the value of the dollar will rise."
