Subscription-based eBook Service Launches in April

Linked with Kyobo Bookstore App: Borrow Up to Five Books per Month for 15 Days, Automatic Return After Loan Period
Available to Gwangjin-gu Public Library Members
Expectations for Promoting a Reading Culture

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) launched a 'Subscription-based eBook' service starting in April.

According to the district, as of the end of last year, the eBook collection consisted of 7,156 titles with 21,848 copies, and the annual number of loans was 73,857. The most frequently borrowed genres were novels, business and economics, self-development, and humanities, in that order.

The subscription-based eBook service allows unlimited users per book. Unlike the owned eBook service, where users must wait for a book currently on loan, multiple users can borrow the same book simultaneously without waiting. This offers the advantage of easily reading popular and new books anytime and anywhere.

This service is linked with the Kyobo Bookstore eLibrary app, which holds about 100,000 eBook titles. Users can borrow up to five books per month, with a loan period of 15 days. Books are automatically returned after the loan period expires.

Anyone who is a member of the Gwangjin-gu public library can use this service. For more details, please visit the Gwangjin-gu public library website or contact the Lifelong Education Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "People had to wait a long time to borrow popular or newly released books. With the implementation of the subscription-based eBook service, I hope residents can comfortably access the books they want, wherever they want." He added, "We will continue to actively support various reading promotion programs to help spread a culture of reading."
