Daegu Police Agency, Meeting the Future on Site "2025 Forensic Science Research Seminar" Held... Accelerating Practical Skills Enhancement

This seminar was organized with the aim of enhancing investigative capabilities through research on the latest trends in scientific investigation and techniques that can be immediately applied in the field, as well as strengthening collaboration with related organizations such as the National Forensic Service, Army Criminal Investigation Command, and local universities.

About 50 people, including forensic investigators, coroner investigators, and external experts, attended the event, which featured presentations and discussions on various topics.

Discussion topics included research on the possibility of identifying deceased persons using facial recognition technology (Kim Yeonjeong, coroner investigator from the Daegu Agency Scientific Investigation Division, in collaboration with UniverseAI), key points in examining suicide scenes using dry ice (Ko Bokchan, inspector from the Daegu Agency Scientific Investigation Division), enhancement techniques for blood fingerprints exposed to high temperatures and soot (Baek Hyeonjeong, sergeant from the Daegu Agency Scientific Investigation Division), and research on the practical application of artificial fingerprint manufacturing and fingerprint lifting technology (Namgung Juyeong, sergeant from the Chungbuk Agency Scientific Investigation Division).

Through these presentations, participants exchanged various opinions on the field applicability of each technique and ways to expand inter-agency cooperation, and also agreed on the need to establish a practical consultative body in the future.

Song Junseop, Head of Investigation, emphasized, "Accurate and prompt scientific investigation is the key to earning public trust," and added, "We will further enhance the professionalism and reliability of scientific investigation through practice-oriented research and information sharing among related organizations."

Meanwhile, the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency Scientific Investigation Advancement Research Association (ACI) was selected as the best learning group by the National Police Agency in 2024, and plans to continue to take the lead in establishing an investigative system that the public can trust by enhancing the effectiveness of scientific investigation through regular seminars and research activities.
