The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development held the first meeting of the Practical Council for the Globalization of Korean Medicine at its Seoul branch on April 10, aiming to promote the overseas expansion of Korean medicine and attract foreign patients.

The meeting was attended by 16 representatives from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Busan Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, Korea Traditional Medicine Industry Association, as well as government agencies, companies, medical institutions, local governments, and medical tourism agencies.


During the meeting, participants shared a wide range of information, including the need for close communication and cooperation among the public, private, industry, and academic sectors to promote the overseas expansion of Korean medicine, as well as issues and challenges related to traditional medicine laws and regulations in various countries.


An official from the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development stated, "We will continue to listen to voices from the Korean medicine industry and develop effective policies to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean medicine."


This meeting is regarded as an important first step for Korean medicine to enter the global market, and there is growing attention on the outcomes of future discussions within the council.
