Gijang-gun, Busan will hold the 12th Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival from June 18 to 20 at the Idong Port area in Ilgwang-eup, hosted by the Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Lee Jeongdong).

Gijang seaweed and kelp are cultivated in the clean waters off the coast of Gijang, where the currents are swift and rich in organic matter. These products are known for their excellent antioxidant and immune-boosting properties, and are especially helpful for postpartum recovery. Historical records show that their exceptional taste earned them a place on the royal table.

The Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival is held to promote the superior quality of Gijang seaweed and kelp and to foster community unity. This year marks its 12th edition.

This year's festival will feature a variety of programs for all ages, including hands-on experiences such as harvesting fresh seaweed and kelp, surprise auctions, free tastings, a fireworks show over the sea, a flea market, and various celebratory performances by invited singers such as Na Taejoo, Moon Yeonju, Park Seongon, and Min Hee.

County Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, "I hope many people will visit this seaweed and kelp festival, which is held on a warm spring day, to experience firsthand the true value of Gijang's premium seaweed and kelp, and to enjoy the diverse sights and activities. We will actively promote the excellence of Gijang seaweed and kelp and encourage the sale of local specialty products."
