Tourists Continue to Flock to Jukdo in Hongseong, the 'Maldives of Korea' Tourists are continuously visiting Jukdo, the only inhabited island in Hongseong County.

With the introduction of ferry services, the number of tourists is rapidly increasing on Jukdo, the only inhabited island in Seobu-myeon, Hongseong-gun, Chungnam.

Jukdo, which has earned the nickname "the Maldives of Korea" for its emerald-colored, pristine sea, has recently gained popularity through word of mouth on social media. Even on weekdays, ferries are fully booked, and it is reported that thousands of visitors?more than double compared to last month?are now coming to the island.

In particular, visitors can enjoy healing moments walking along the beautiful coastal scenery and lush bamboo forest trails. Fresh seafood kalguksu served at local restaurants is another delicacy that brings joy to travelers visiting Jukdo.

Various experience programs for tourists are also gaining popularity. Mudflat exploration and sightseeing tours around nearby islands are attracting families, and as Jukdo becomes widely known as an energy self-sufficient island, the number of visitors is expected to increase even further.

Additionally, a unique program called "Jukdo Three Meals," which can only be experienced on Jukdo, is drawing the attention of travelers. This program, operated directly by local residents, offers one night's accommodation along with lunch and dinner on the first day and breakfast the next morning, providing a genuine taste and warmth of Jukdo.

An official from the county said, "Jukdo, a pollution-free island with no car noises, is loved as a healing destination where the emerald sea and green bamboo forests harmonize. With the lifting of the Cheonsuman Water Resources Protection Zone and the expansion of convenience facilities, we will continue to develop Jukdo into Korea's top travel destination."
