Jindo County Governor Kim Heesoo Launches Relay Campaign to Raise Awareness of Population Issues

Building Consensus on Addressing Issues such as Low Birth Rates and Aging Population

Jindo County, South Jeolla Province announced on the 11th that County Governor Kim Heesu participated in the 'Population Issue Awareness Improvement Relay Campaign' on the 8th to raise awareness about the seriousness of population issues caused by low birth rates and an aging population.


This 'Relay Campaign' has been conducted since October of last year under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare.

In addition, based on the declaration, 'Let us strive to make Korea a country where children are happy, young people can nurture hope, and the elderly can live with purpose,' the campaign aims to raise awareness about the need to address low birth rates and aging, build consensus to solve the issue of population decline, and promote actions to create a sustainable society.


On this day, Governor Kim participated in the 'Relay Campaign' after being nominated by Koh Youngmin, Governor of Goheung County, and nominated Kim Mi, Director of the Jindo Office of Education, Jeollanam-do, and Lee Sinje, Head of the Jindo Waterworks Branch of Korea Water Resources Corporation, as the next participants.


Governor Kim stated, "I hope this campaign will help spread awareness about the seriousness of the population crisis," and added, "We will continue to promote effective policies such as support for childbirth, childcare, and youth settlement."
