Ulsan Ulju-gun to Advance Drone Delivery Service

Drone Demonstration City Development Project
to Be Conducted from the 11th to November 28

Ulsan Ulju County is accelerating the advancement of drone delivery services through the "2025 Drone Demonstration City Development Project."

Ulju County was selected for a public contest by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and will receive a total of 90 million KRW in support to implement the project this year. After signing an agreement on the 11th of last month and completing the necessary approval procedures such as special flight authorization and establishing a drone safety management system, the county will operate the drone delivery service in phases from today until November 28.

This year, in particular, the drone delivery service will be further advanced to strengthen the foundation for the commercialization of K-drone delivery.

A system allowing simultaneous orders from multiple stores will be introduced, and starting at the end of next month, the maximum weight for drone-deliverable products will be expanded to 5 kg.

Additionally, public services will be operated alongside the drone delivery service. The Samnam and Sangbuk routes will be used for patrols in vulnerable areas and wildfire monitoring, while the Seosaeng route will focus on coastal area patrols.

For each route, the operating hours for the Samnam and Sangbuk routes will be every Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year, Jakcheonjeong Square, Dalbit, Byeolbit, Deungeok Alps Campsite, Ulju Sports Center, Ulju Sports Park, and Sujeong Senior Center will be newly added to the routes.

However, for Ganwoljae, considering the wildfire monitoring period, operations are planned to begin after next month.

The Seosaeng route will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the beach season in July and August. As in the previous year, it will be available at Myeongseon Bridge (Jinha direction), Palgakjeong, Marine Leisure Sports Center, Daebawi, Solgae, Songjeong Park, Ganjeolgot Sports Park, Solgae Beach, and Songjeong Fishing Spot.

An Ulju County official stated, "The drone delivery service is becoming a pillar of smart administration, not only innovating logistics but also enhancing convenience and safety for local residents," adding, "We will continue to focus on expanding the use of drones in connection with various fields."
