According to the legal community on the 11th, the Seoul High Court, which manages the court building, received the request from the Presidential Security Service and is reviewing the measure. The court plans to announce a security plan for the criminal trial of former President Yoon, including protection of the court building, on the day.
The Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Gui-yeon) will hold the first trial of former President Yoon, who has been indicted on charges of leading a rebellion, on the 14th. The defendant, President Yoon, must appear in court. Attendance of the defendant is mandatory for the main trial, not the preparatory hearing. The court has selected Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as witnesses for the first trial.
At the second preparatory hearing held on the 24th of last month, President Yoon’s side denied all the prosecution’s charges and also argued that the evidence the prosecution intends to use in the trial was illegally collected.
Meanwhile, former President Yoon will leave the Hannam-dong residence and move to his private home around 5 p.m. on the same day, just seven days after the Constitutional Court’s dismissal decision. Former President Yoon was released on the 8th of last month following the court’s decision to cancel his detention.
