The event, held on the 7th at the main conference room of Dong-A University's Seunghak Campus, was attended by President Lee Haewoo, Vice President Kang Daeseong, Director of External and International Affairs Park Hyuntae, and Director of Academic Affairs Jeon Mira. From Chiang Mai University, key figures including President Prof. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, Vice President Asst. Prof. Todsaporn Pichaiya, Dean of the College of Medicine Assoc. Prof. Narain Chotirosniramit, M.D., and Medical Advisor Prof. Emeritus Bannakij Lojanapiwat, M.D., were present, highlighting the significance of global academic exchange.

Recognized as the top university in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai University is one of the country's three leading universities, boasting 20 colleges including the College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and College of Business Administration, with over 38,000 students. Through this agreement, Dong-A University students will have the opportunity to experience world-class education directly on campus.

With this signing ceremony, Dong-A University appointed President Prof. Pongruk, a forensic scientist, and Professor Praphan, a clinical research expert, as 'Global JA Faculty,' providing domestic students the opportunity to attend lectures by international experts without studying abroad.

The 'Global JA (Joint Appointment) Faculty' system is an innovative educational model in which domestic universities jointly appoint distinguished scholars from world-renowned institutions to provide students with the highest level of education.

In particular, the program promoted by Dong-A University is a core initiative of the 'Dong-A University?Dongseo University Consortium' Glocal University 30 Project, attracting attention as students can experience live lectures from international faculty on campus, enjoying the benefits of studying abroad without leaving the country.

To ensure the successful operation of the Glocal University 30 Project, Dong-A University plans to continuously invite global scholars as Global JA Faculty in four specialized fields: Energy Tech, Human Metacare, Cultural Contents, and B-Heritage.

President Prof. Pongruk, newly appointed, will lead the global academic exchange between the two universities. Professor Praphan, CEO of the clinical research organization (CRO) C&R Healthcare Global Thailand, has accumulated decades of global clinical expertise and will directly impart specialized knowledge in the Human Metacare field to Dong-A University students.

President Lee Haewoo stated, "Since the agreement last year, the two universities have been creating exemplary cases that go beyond mere paperwork to achieve tangible results. With the appointment of the Global JA Faculty, our students can now attend lectures by world-class scholars without studying abroad in Thailand, and we will further expand practical educational models needed in the global era."

President Prof. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol said, "It is very encouraging that the relationship between the two universities has developed from a paper agreement to practical human exchange. As a JA Faculty member, I look forward to meeting Korean students directly, sharing knowledge, and making substantial contributions to the advancement of medical technology and healthcare in both countries."

This appointment of Global JA Faculty is expected to bring direct benefits to Dong-A University students. They will be able to receive global education from distinguished scholars on campus without the cost of studying abroad, and it is also expected to greatly help in building global networks and acquiring an international perspective.

Through this, Dong-A University is expected to achieve the highest level of internationalization index among universities in the Busan region, contributing to enhancing the educational competitiveness of the local community.

Dong-A University and Chiang Mai University have already been actively cooperating in various fields such as engineering, hospitals, and startup support. During this visit, an additional MOU was signed between Dong-A University Hospital and Chiang Mai University's College of Medicine. This is expected to further solidify practical medical cooperation in the Human Metacare field between the two countries.
