Busan Urban Corporation Calls for Proposals for 'Happy Village Living Lab' Project... Resident Suggestions and Expert Participation

One-on-One Matching of Residents and Professional Organizations to Address Local Issues
Up to 19.4 Million KRW in Project Funding for Five Communities

Busan Metropolitan City Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) is recruiting villages to participate in the '2025 Happy Village Living Lab Support Project' until the 15th.

The Living Lab is a "living laboratory," a space where local residents, experts, and others participate to find solutions to social issues in daily life through experimentation.

The 'Happy Village Living Lab Support Project' is a region-specific support program targeting 71 Happy Villages in Busan, where residents directly identify local issues and establish solutions in collaboration with professional organizations.

This year, the project will be expanded to select a total of five villages, compared to last year. The support areas include ▲village product development ▲resident facility operation strategies ▲improvement of living environments, while simple facility construction projects are excluded.

Applications are open until the 15th and can be submitted through the relevant district or county offices. After document and in-person evaluations, the final selection results will be announced. The project period runs from June to the end of October, with up to 19.4 million KRW in project funding provided per village.

In particular, the 'Happy Village Living Lab Support Project' focuses on establishing a practical foundation for sustainable village revitalization rather than being a one-off initiative. By matching with expert groups, the project aims to enhance execution and reduce trial and error.

Last year, four villages participated in the Living Lab project and achieved tangible results that residents could directly experience, such as ▲improvement of village products ▲utilization of public spaces ▲improvement of living environments.

Shin Changho, President of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation, said, "This public contest is a process in which residents collaborate with administration and experts to realize changes in the community," adding, "We will continue to promote projects that foster the community's self-sustainability together with residents."

Detailed information regarding the contest can be found on the website of the Urban Regeneration Support Center of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation.
