Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will present the play 'Dongbaekdang; The People of the Bakery' at Jeongeupsa Arts Center at 7 PM on the 25th.
According to the city on the 11th, this performance tells the story of people living through the turbulent period after liberation, depicting the journey of Koreans left behind in a village after the Japanese departed, and elderly, sick, and abandoned Japanese people, as they seek a breakthrough in life through a 'cooperative'.
The play delivers a touching message about overcoming real-life crises through the power of community, as people who have lost their jobs and hope come together to create a bakery called 'Dongbaekdang' and contemplate a new way of life.
The performance will feature 16 actors, including Hwang Sewon, Park Yoonjung, Park Soyeon, Yoon Ilsik, and Yang Nayoung, who will authentically portray the stories of characters who lived through that era.
Tickets can be reserved through Ticketlink starting at 2 PM on the 15th, with a maximum of four tickets per person. Admission is 8,000 won, with a 50% discount offered to Jeongeup citizens, national merit recipients, and people with disabilities.
The performance will run for a total of 160 minutes (including a 15-minute intermission), and entry will be allowed from 30 minutes before the show begins.
Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "This play will be a valuable opportunity to remind all citizens of the importance of community strength and solidarity, going beyond a simple stage," and added, "We will continue to do our best to quench the cultural thirst and improve the quality of life through various cultural and artistic performances tailored to the citizens' expectations."
