Transportation, Medical, Multi-Use, Lodging, and Amusement Facilities
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that it will conduct intensive safety inspections targeting disaster-prone facilities within the city for two months from the 14th to June 13.
This inspection is part of preventive activities for facilities at risk of disasters and has been conducted annually since 2015 under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The inspection targets 63 locations, including traffic facilities, medical facilities, multi-use facilities, lodging facilities, and amusement facilities where accidents are likely to occur. The city plans to enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of the inspections through a public-private joint inspection involving experts in civil engineering, architecture, electricity, gas, and firefighting.
The city will require immediate on-site improvements for minor issues found during the inspections, and for serious issues, it will continuously implement follow-up measures such as repairs, reinforcements, and detailed safety diagnoses until the risks are resolved. The inspection results will be disclosed through the Safety Information Integrated Disclosure System.
Siheung City will also operate a "Resident Request System" until the 30th, allowing residents to request inspections for facilities they consider unsafe, and plans to distribute self-inspection checklists so that citizens can directly check the safety of their homes and workplaces.
Mayor Lim Byeong-taek of Siheung said, "Through this inspection, we will preemptively block disaster risk factors and implement thorough repairs and safety measures to create a safe city."
