This meeting was organized to proactively assess the employment impact on key local industries and companies, such as the automotive parts sector, resulting from the recent imposition of item-specific tariffs and reciprocal tariffs by the United States. Attendees shared corporate difficulties and the local employment situation, and discussed joint response measures such as support for workplaces and workers affected by employment crises.
Since August last year, the Yangsan Branch has operated the 'Regional Employment Strategy Review Task Force,' carrying out various activities to provide tailored support for workplaces in employment crisis and vulnerable groups. In September last year, the 'Automotive Parts Support Council' was launched to listen to the difficulties faced by automotive parts companies and to develop mid- to long-term support measures.
Branch Director Kwon Kuhyung stated, "Most of the region's key industries are secondary and tertiary suppliers to large corporations, so significant damage is expected due to changes in order volumes from major clients following the recent U.S. tariff policy. We plan to strengthen our network to continue discussing various support measures for SMEs, mid-sized companies, and workers, including monitoring major local companies, conducting various on-site support activities, and providing employment retention subsidies."
