The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam successfully held the 2025 Changwon City CPR Competition for the General Public in the headquarters' main conference room.
The competition, held on the 10th, was organized to increase the rate of bystander CPR when a cardiac arrest occurs and to improve citizens' emergency response skills, ultimately aiming to raise survival rates.
Above all, the event carried significant meaning in delivering the message: "Before 119 arrives, it is the hands of the person next to you that save lives."
A total of four teams, comprising 19 participants, competed fiercely in simulations based on real-life scenarios. Participants were evaluated on the accuracy of their CPR, emergency response capabilities, and teamwork, showcasing their well-honed skills as 'golden hands' that save lives.
The top prize of the day went to the 'Heart GoStop' team from the Jinhae Senior Welfare Center. The winning team will represent Changwon at the National CPR Competition for the General Public, which will be held at the Government Sejong Convention Center on May 27, competing against representative teams from 19 cities and provinces nationwide.
Changwon Fire Headquarters Chief Lee Sanggi said, "Emergency care is not just the domain of professionals, but a life-saving skill that every citizen should learn. Through this competition, we witnessed miraculous moments created by the 'golden hands' of our citizens. We will continue to actively run various programs to spread a culture of safety."
