Security lighting and CCTV for illegal dumping to be installed
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 11th that it plans to accelerate efforts to improve residents' living environments by expanding the 'Villa Management Office' project to four additional neighborhoods this year.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, is delivering a greeting at the opening ceremony of the villa management office in Suyu 2-dong last year. Provided by Gangbuk-gu.
The Villa Management Office is a flagship project of Gangbuk-gu's 8th elected administration, aimed at systematically managing small-scale multi-family housing known as villas. It provides integrated services closely related to residents' daily lives, including cleaning, illegal dumping control, support for repairing common facilities, identifying safety hazards, and resolving parking issues.
Since the pilot operation of the Villa Management Office began in Beon 1-dong in 2023, the high resident satisfaction has led to the addition of two more areas last year: Mia-dong and Songjung-dong (around Mia-dong 258 area), and Suyu 2-dong (from Gwangsan Intersection to 4.19 Democracy Cemetery Station). Currently, a total of three Villa Management Offices are in operation.
This year, after deliberation by the 'Villa Management Office Expansion Area Selection Committee,' four more areas?Samyang-dong, Songcheon-dong, Suyu 1-dong, and Suyu 3-dong?were selected as new targets for the Villa Management Office. The selection process was conducted through an open recruitment method, receiving 12 applications from 7 neighborhoods in total.
Accordingly, the district comprehensively considered factors such as villa density, building aging, and resident participation rates in the applicant areas, and through a fair evaluation, decided on the expansion areas for the Villa Management Office. The newly selected offices are scheduled to begin full operation from mid-May.
In particular, this year the project scope will also expand to include the installation of security lighting for crime prevention, deployment of portable closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to monitor illegal dumping, and operation of free legal counseling offices to resolve disputes in multi-family housing.
Meanwhile, in line with this expansion, the district is recruiting nine 'Villa Management Office Managers' to work on-site until the 18th of this month. Anyone aged 55 or older is eligible to apply, and detailed information can be found in the announcement on the Gangbuk-gu Office website.
Additionally, the district plans to actively gather residents' opinions and consider further expansion next year to areas without Villa Management Offices.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, "The Villa Management Office is a highly supported project among residents as it provides practical assistance to villa residents facing difficulties due to lack of management. Through this expansion, we will continue to strive to ensure that more residents can enjoy a pleasant living environment."
